This article is a 4 part series. To go back to part 1 go here.

Let’s say for example you spend $600.00 on a dog you buy off of Craig’s list.

You believe you are getting a quality dog. After all it’s just so cute and it looks like the perfect Labrador.

You get it home and all is well. In fact the so called breeder has offered you a health guaranty.

You feel you got a great deal and everyone that see’s your new pup tells you how wonderful he looks.

But at about 4 months of age you think you see you pup starting to limp.

You don’t think much about and over the course of a year it become evident there is something wrong.

You take you pup to the Vet and he is diagnosed with a possible form of elbow dysplasia.  The Vet informs you it is most likely a genetic disease.

He orders some x-rays and your Vet then recommends taking him to a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for a better diagnoses.

At this point you have spent about $300 or so dollars. But you are not thinking much about that because you love your dog and don’t want him to be in pain.

You make the appointment and go home.

You decide to call your breeder to let them know because they seemed so concerned about getting the pups they brought into this world a great home.
